GSM subscribers base of Indian telecom industry has increased to 2.58 percent with the addition of over 12.4 million subscribers In the month of September. Surprisingly state-owned BSNL managed to add the highest number of new mobile subscribers with 2.3 million additions to gain a market share of 14.71 percent. This is the first time since many years that the PSU has managed to attain this position .
As per Cellular Operators Association of India, in the country, the total number of subscribers crossed 494 million as against 481 million the previous month. In India, BSNL added over 2.3 million subscribers, a growth of 3.32 percent over the previous month, to have a total of 72.6 million subscribers. Bharti Airtel, the leading operator has added over two million subscribers, a growth of 1.44 percent as compared to the previous month, taking its total numbers to 143 million. And the operator has acquired a market share of 29 percent.
