If you are planning to go to Mount Everest in near future then there is a good news for you that you will be able to let your near and dear ones know that you have reached the peak of mountain as 3G mobile services has reached to the peak of the tallest mountain.
A Nepalese telecommunications company called Ncell which is a subsidiary of Swedish telecom major; TeliaSonera has recently stated that they have set up their 3G phone base station at the Gorakhshep in the region of Everest at the height of 5200 metres.
This set up by Ncell has become the highest 3G mobile phone base station and it will also cover the summit at the height of 8848 metres. The first video call was made by Ncell on 29th Oct, 2010 at the height of 17,388 feet.
Earlier, the climbers to the mountain had to rely on the satellite phones to make the calls but now with the help of the 3G services the climbers will be able to make video calls as well as access high speed internet.
