HRD Minister Kapil Sibal becomes new Telecom Minister of India

After the Resignation of A. Raja on Sunday night over 2G spectrum scandal, India’s Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal has given the additional charge of the Telecom Ministryby Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as by monday evening all formalities were complete with acceptance of A. Raja resignation. 

According to ministry sources, “Sibal was given charge of the additional portfolio due to his ‘clean political image’ and it is an temporary appointment due to ongoing Parliament session”

Just last week, Sibal was given additional charge of Science and Technology after Prithviraj Chavan was moved to Maharashtra as the chief minister following Ashok Chavan’s dismissal on the grounds of misusing his office to corner apartments for his family in a building that was meant to house war widows and defence veterans.
