With a whooping official mobile subscriber base of 670 million, India is emerging as one of the fastest growing mobile phone subscriber market in the world. Moreover story doesn’t ends here as the no. of subscribers are ever increasing by addition of near about 13-16 million new users every month.
But the Indian government is not very sure on the actual number of mobile phone users in the country. Indian government is now looking forward to deploy some technology and regulations which can find out the real number of mobile phone subscribers. The decision was arrived at a recent meeting of the Telecom Commission.

From this total 670 million mobile subscribers, there are considerable amount of non-active mobile users and single users with multiple SIM cards. Although no official figures are available for non-active subscribers, some estimates show that actual number of subscribers may not be more than 500 million
HRL database could be a remedy for Gov. to find out real no. of mobile subscribers as HLR is a database used in mobile networks to store subscriber information and customer profiles. HLR counts multiple SIM issued to an individual as a separate connections.
