In the second quarter of this year ending on 30th September, 2010, Bharti Airtel has paid the highest tele revenue to the government in the form of license fee and the spectrum usage charges. As per the data compiled by TRAI, Bharti Airtel which is the largest telecom operator has paid an amount of Rs.692.5 crores as the license fee and Rs. 282.08 crore as the spectrum charges to the government which sum up to around Rs.974 crore in total.
Vodafone Essar followed Bharti Airtel and paid a total amount of Rs.625.55 crore to the government. The state run BSNL and MTNL contributed by paying an amount of Rs. 5877.17 crore as spectrum charges and license fees.
The other telecom service providers who contributed towards the tele revenue to the government included Tata Teleservices, Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications with an amount of Rs. 281.41 crore, Rs.383.98 crore and Rs. 302.33 crore respectively.
The new operators Etisalat, Loop Steel, Unitech Wireless and Sistema Shyam Teleservices paid an amount of Rs. 32.62 crores as spectrum charges and license fee to the government.
