The wireless industry has nominated 131 contracts for Q3 2010 awards which is two percent less than the Q3 2009 awards in last year. However the total contracts have been able to increase about 32 percent. Among the total awards being awarded, about 66 percent of the contracts have been awarded to 3G/4G and about 34 percent contracts were awarded for 2G. The owner and the President of the EJL Wireless Research, Earl Lum has said that its Huawei Technologies were succeeded in securing about 59 percent of the awards which was held on 30 September, 2010.
The five Indian 3G license holders have been awarded by the W-CDMA/HSPA. As the mobile market has successfully expanded in Asia, Africa and Middle East, there were only one third of the market is having the GSM technology. These contracts awards was been given according to the reports.
